What Does Mild Caliectasis On An Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Hello, I have a history of kidney stones and hydronephrosis and for the past 5 days I ve had horrible flank pain, urinary frequency and feel like there s a blockage. I went to the ER today and my ultrasound showed mild caliectasis and Mild hydronephrosis but the dr said it was ok and follow up with my urologist. I m still in tremendous pain, any suggestions? FYI, when I had hydro the last time, I ended up needing a nephrostomy tube and had a pee bag for 2 months :(

Hi and welcome to HCM.
Caliectasis means that there is dilatation of kidneys caliculi which are part of kidneys on its lower side. Caliculi form then ureter and Caliectasis is a sign of ureter obstruction as well as hydronephrosis. I dont think this is something minor and this definitely required treatment with lithotripsy or CT urography for better evaluation especially if you have pain. So I think you should see another urologist.

I hope I ve answered your questions, feel free to ask us more if you have some concerns.

Wish you good health. Regards
