What Does Mild Chronic Small Vessel On An MRI Report Suggest?

I had a MR Brain W+wo contrast MRI. I have been diagnosed with a Pineal cyst lesion and have had to have MRI s each year since 2013. It has not grown but I notices when I went to the Hospital Portal to view the findings this last month it said that I had mild chronic small vessel ischemic changes. My dr. has not called me, she is just my general dr. can you tell me what this means?

Hi,

Chronic small vessel ischemia is a vascular lesion wherein the small blood vessels under constriction and blood supply to brain parenchyma is reduced.

This is usually age related and can lead to minute white matter hemorrhages. I suggest you to consult a neurologist with MRI results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
