Hi.

Herpes is a viral infection and is cauaed by Herpes simplex virus..
This infection commonly spreads tgrough unprotected sexual means but there are other ways of spreads.

However the spread many a times depends on the severity of infection and whether the infection is mild moderate or severe..

It is decided by the viral count measured from the infected individual.

If the viral count is very high with active sores and other symptoms then it is a severe infection.

But if there are no active sores or symptoms and the viral count is low then it is considered under mild infection..

Hope I have answered your query.
Please let me know if I can assist you further..

Regards.
