What Does Mild Pelvicalyceal Dilatation Of The Kidneys On An Ultrsound Report Mean?
Hi doctor, my wife undergone a anomaly scan during the 4th month of her pregnancy and the scan report said mild pelvicalyceal dilatation was seen in both the kidneys. We were much worried what is this what are the causes and remedy for this Pls help us.
This is a usual finding in pregnant females. Pelvi-calyceal dilatation means there is some obstruction to urine flow from the kidneys. Pathologic causes include stones (Ureteric Calculi), strictures and infections. However, in pregnancy it can be a normal finding because of the pressure exerted by the pregnant uterus on the urinary system. However, the entire report of the scan needs to be seen to opine. Kindly consult with the OBGYN consultant your wife is seeing for advice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
