What Does Missed Period Indicate?

Hi, I finished my 3 week hcg diet 5 weeks ago. While on diet I had a normal period. Now I m on day 34 of cycle, when I m regularly 24-26 day cycles. I m 42 and have not skipped a period, except for being pregnant, in over 20 years. My husband had vasectomy 6 years ago... Not sure if I should get a pregnancy test, or if this may be normal?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Skipping menstruation might be a sign of the entering menopausal phase. Usually, the menopausal age is considered to be 45-55 years, but some women may get it earlier. Irregular cycles may be due to imbalanced hormones that are responsible for menstruation.

I would advise you to visit your gynecologist. He/she will examine you physically and may advise blood tests to determine hormone levels. Based on the test results, hormone replacement therapy may be started.
