Hi! My 8 months old daughter is passing loose motions. N got the stool test done which says mucus positive, blood positive, pus cells 12-17,rbc 3-5, occult blood trace, ph 7, reducing substances negative. What does that mean? N what medication should be done?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of stool test report is as follows: Presence of pus cells in stools suggests infection in gastrointestinal tract. Presence of red blood cells in stools suggests bleeding at some site along the gastrointestinal tract. Mucus can be discharged in stools can be due to increased secretion of mucus from mucus glands in response to infection.
Thus, the report suggests presence of infection. You need to consult your pediatrician for prescription of antibiotic for treatment of infection.
