What Does My CAT Scan Test Report Indicate?

My doctor s nurse just called with my catscan results and said it showed a thickening of my colon in addition to the diverticulosis that I was previously diagnosed with. They suggested going to a GI specialist as follow up right away. I have never heard of a thickening of the colon and was looking for some information.

Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
When CT reports as thickening of colonic wall it usually suggests that there might be some kind of inflammationof the colonic wall.
It is called as colitis.
Now they have adviced you to consult a gastroenterologist because he might perform a colonoscopy on you to see the exact nature and extent of the colitis.
There are many reason from infective to inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis or chrons.
So kindly consult a gastroenterologist for further workup.
I hope i have answered your query well.
Thank you
