Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Preparing for surgical removal of testicular tumor in left lung next Thursday, July 21st. Have completed the chemo treatments and have just done one final CT scan. Received a call and update on labs & CT scan from yesterday: Tumor Markers: hCG = remained at 2.0 AFP = last test was @ 3.7 is now at 3.3 CT Scan (awaiting formal report etc. Should have tomorrow) Left Lung Nodule: is now at 2.8cm x 2cm Right Lung Nodule: was at 1.3cm and is now at 1.2cm The radiologist noticed some new findings in lungs. I will be as descriptive as I can be. She was not 100% on what it was but the radiologist report stated - it is a “cloudiness” in the airway where the oxygen is. They want to rule out any infection. I need to go and see a Pulmonologist to get everything checked out. The initial thought would be that it is bleomycin toxicity, however when told swam 1 mile Sunday and am not coughing, do not have bronchitis or pneumonia it would be unlikely this is the case. Also have had positive PFT (lung function tests) recently as well which didn’t show anything. Thoughts /advise on what might be lurking, precautionary measures or concerns that should be ruled out or taken before moving forward with surgery? Much appreciated!
As per my clinical experience, as the level of tumor markers are getting somewhat lower as compared to previous ones, continuation of precise doses of chemotherapy is mandatory.
The lung nodules are sequence of testiclar tumor only. Let your consultant decide the time period of surgery as this would be challenging to inter connect multiple parameters.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
