My daughter s X-rays indicate that she has a collapsed lung. She is to have a CT scan tomorrow. She had been coughing for months, saw a doctor finally, and started a Zpac just a day before the X-ray. Her coughing has greatly diminished - today was the last day of the Zpac supposedly still continuing to work. Is cancer among the possibilities of what might be found? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Collapse of lung means there is some obstruction in airway supplying concerned lung area. Obstruction may be due to pneumonia or tuberculosis or cancer. But let there be CT scan , picture will be clear.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
