What Does My CT Scan Result Indicate?

Hi, 8 months back i got lower rt abd. blunt trauma since then feeling dull pain in that area and also backache.i have done CT scan yesterday which shows there is mild thickening of terminal ileum with few small right lower mesentric nodes.Findings are non specific and likely infective/inflammatory in nature and dont favour Koch s.Is it serious thing?Please give your valuable advice.Thanks and Regards.

Thanks for writing in to us.

The CT scan findings suggest that there might be an inflammatory process involving the end of small intestine. This is seen as thickened wall in the region. This can be due to several chronic inflammatory conditions like Crohns disease or mild intestinal infection. Since there are few small lymph nodes, it is most likely non specific. The report clearly states that unlikely to be Kochs. This means it is not showing features of tuberculosis (which is called Kochs) and there is no need to do tests for TB or take treatment. You can take deworming medications and get a colonoscopy if you have diarrhea or constipation. With only history of blunt trauma abdomen nothing much requires to be done.
