Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thank you for taking my question. I just had a EGD, the impression was I have a short Barrett s esophagus found in the distal esophagus. I was diagnosed with Barrett s 6 years ago and have been on 40 mg of Nexium ever since that time. The diagnosis came back as saying No histologic evidence of Barrett s esophagus. Does this mean I still have Barrett s but its just not cancerous? Dr. Rynne am I correct and should I still take Nexium? I m confused because one Dr says yes and another no.
Barrett esophagus is a precancerous lesion and not all Barrett leads to cancer. In the present study, there is no Barrett’s at present. You can continue Nexium for few more months and reassess.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
