What Does My EGD Test Result Indicate?

Dear Doctor Andrew Rynne, I recently( 6-24-16) had an EGD (upper endoscopy which found Gastric fluid, stomach fundus, Erythema, friability and erosions in the whole stomach compatible with gastritis and Erosions in the gastroesophageal junction. What is Gastric fluid? What is Erythema, Friability? What does erosions in the whole stomach compatible with gastritis mean? Answers to my questions would b helpful. Since my EDG I am now taking Pantoprazole SOD 40 MG TAB daily. Best regarda, Darryl Fagin

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The stomach has normal fluid and the stomach wall is very sensitive and erosive. The Gastritis mean the stomach wall is swollen and wall is inflamed. This is majorly due to spicy and oily food and the other causes include Painkiller medications. I would recommend you to continue Pantaprozole. And avoid spices and painkillers.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
