What Does My FNAC Result Report Indicate?

Hello Sir, I am 28 year old female, and started noticing certain changes in my breast like increase in size and pain and got checked by a sonologist that detected in some cysts in my both the breat with a well defined nodule measuring 16X10mm in right breast. Her observation was that these are fibroadenomas and benign. I am concerned if these can be precancerous, or do i need regular chk ups for breast cancer. My FNAC reports also suggested that these are fibrocystic disease . Please advise any dietary changes that can help.

Hello,

Suggestive of benign disease of the breast. I have gone through the reports of the ultrasound and the FNAC which are suggestive of benign (non-cancerous) disease of the breast.

Having fibrocystic breasts doesn't increase your risk of breast cancer. I advise you to have regular breast exams or imaging tests to make sure the fibroadenomas are not growing. You also need certain dietary changes such as:

1. Limit or avoid caffeine,

2. Decrease the fat in your diet, which may decrease breast pain or discomfort associated with fibrocystic breasts.

3. Reduce or stop taking hormonal contraceptives

4. Use evening primrose oil and vitamin E supplementation which may change the balance of fatty acids in your cells, which may reduce breast pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
