Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I just received results from an MRI. I have had chronic fatigue, dizziness, and right facial pain. The MRI showed few scattered less than 5mm T2 hyperintense foci in the perventricular and subcortical white matter of both cerebral hemispheres. They do not have the typical appearance of plaques related to MS. I have a strong family history of MS. What else could this be? Thanks, Cindy
Your MRI report in suggestive of white matter hyperintensities or subcortical hyperintensities in both the cerebral hemispheres.
It is a marker of small vessel vascular disease & clinically may cause cognitive & emotional dysfunction due to ischaemic damages, demyelination & axonal loss, hypoxia & hypoperfusion, etc.
You are suggested to get treated at the earliest. Take medications as prescribed by your treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
