Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi... In 2015 January I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism... My TSH level was 6.5 Doctor gave me thyrox 50 tablet,,, for three months... After 3 months my level was 4.5 And now my level is 2.5... I ve gained 12 kgs of weight in one year... As of now my TSH levels are in between normal range... Should I stop taking tablets..??
The current TSH level is normal , it does not mean to stop the thyroid medication as that will raise the TSH level again due to lack of thyroid functioning via hypothyroid status of your thyroid gland. Kindly restart your medication after dosage confirmation with your treating physician or endocrinologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
