Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 16 year old s cbs shows high rbc, high hemoglobin, hematocrit, high platelet count; likewise there are alot of items that are at the high end of normal, and other labs would consider them high. On to the lows, rdw and mpv are slightly under normal. He has an 0 immature granulocyte, but an ABS Immature granulocyte of 0.02. Any ideas as to what would cause these wacky labs?
He needs to be reviewed by a hematologist and blood counts may needs to be repeated and peripheral film or smear may also be needed. Some other blood tests like JAK 2 mutations tests and LDH etc may also be needed. Meanwhile drinking more water and avoiding heights stay and smoking etc should be ensured.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
