What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?
Sir,
In connection with toes & foot pain in one foot since last 1 yr and starting pain in another foot also since last 2 months of my wife aged 50 years (menstruation happening), blood tests were done and their reading are given: T WBC 17500, Platelet- 7.5 lakhs, ESR- 50, Hb- 13.0, FBS- 101, Sr. creatinine- 0.6, A/G- 1.0, Sr.sodium- 128, Sr.calcium- 10, Cholestoral level- normal.
Pl. suggest quickly next course of action. Anything very serious and needs quick action? Patient is women of age 49 yrs.

your platelet count and WBC count are markedly increased.
The very next investigation to be done is: PERIPHERAL BLOOD SMEAR EXAMINATION.
Only after the peripheral blood smear examination, further investigations can be planned. You may require a Bone marrow examination.
Such high platelet counts can be of serious concern as it is seen in some blood cancers known as myeloproliferative neoplasms (Polycythemia vera, Essential thrombocythemia, primary myelofibrosis).
Please consult a hematologist at the earliest.
