What Does My Following Urine Culture Test Indicate?
I am 27 weeks pregnant.I had my Urine culture test done today. In the Microscopic test, the Pus Cells (Leukocytes) and Epthelial cells values are slightly higher than normal.Pus Cells are 10-15 as against 0-9/hpf and the epithelial cells are15-20 as against 0-4/hpf.Under Yeast cells it says Occasional.Rest of the values seem fine. Wanted to know if this is normal or anything serious.
Your symptoms suggests urinary tract infection(UTI). UTI is indicated by presence of excessive pus cells in urine.
You need clinical correlation and investigations like routine hemogram, renal function test,Urine culture and sensitivity and Ultrasound of abdomen.
Nitrite test and Leukocyte esterase test can be done for confirmation of UTI. Proper antibiotics should be prescribed after culture and sensitivity report. You should drink plenty of fluids. UTI is not good for pregnancy,so you should consult your doctor.
