What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?

ALT is 120. All other tests including a HEP panel are normal. ALT went from 105 to 120 after abstaining 9 days. I did a full day fast the day before this test and swam a mile. I am on day 17 of abstaining and wondering if a glass of wine at dinner would be ok. All other vitals are normal. before abstaining I drank 3 to 5 drinks a day usually wine or beer. I have also been avoiding sugar and carbs and cut out soft drinks. lost 10 lbs. getting an ultra sound of liver next week. Would a glass of wine be ok? Am I in serious danger with a 120 ALT?

Hello

Raised ALT may indicate liver injury.
It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, altered lipid profile, medicines, auto immune causes etc.
It may be due to alcohol intake in your case and you should try to quit it completely.

You may need clinical evaluation and investigations like routine hemogram, complete liver function test, random blood sugar, lipid profile, viral markers, ultrasound of abdomen.
I suggest tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg tablet twice daily for three months. It helps in regeneration of liver cells.

You should take low fat diet and take lot of fibers in the form of salad, vegetables etc.
Go for brisk walk regularly.

Get well soon.
Take Care
