I trying to understand lab result ....."blood demonstrates normochromic, normocytic erythrocytes with mild anisopoikilocytosis". In layman' terms means..... Other part of lab tests recommends" hemoglobin A1c on low side consistent with potential hypoglycemic episodes"... I understand a little in that my recent episodes of confusion may be the result of low blood sugar? What does one do for that?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The blood report suggesting normocytic normochromic erythrocytes with mild anisopoikilocytosis suggests normal sized and normal shaped red blood cells with little variation. There parameters are within normal range. Parameters like red blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCV, MCH and MCHC also need to be studied for better interpretation. Low HbA1c can occur with hypoglycemia and the symptoms of confusion can occur due to low blood glucose. In case you are a diabetic on hypo-glycemic drugs, you need to consult your physician for review of drugs for diabetics. If you are not a diabetic then you need to consult your physician to look for probable cause of hypoglycemia.
