What Does My Lipid Test Regarding Cholesterol Indicate?

I have got my lipid profile test done 2 days back and as per the report cholestrol is 254.00 mg/dl, triglycerides - 265.00 mg/dl, HDL Cholestrol - 45.00 mg/dl, LDL Cholestrol - 162.00 mg/dl, VLDL Cholestrol - 47.00 mg/dl, non HDL Cholestrol - 209.00 mg/dl. I can't do exercises due to my ear problem as I had a mastoidectonomy done a year back and will be having a tympanoplasty and osciculloplasty done in next week. Kindly suggest what should I do?

Dietitian & Nutritionist 's  Response
Hello
A cardiologist would probably recommend that statins be started immediately with weight loss if needed, an exercise program and a balanced low fat, low calorie, high soluble fiber diet.

Other non-drug options that help lower lipids is guggul, garlic, green tea extract, red rice yeast (do not recommend taking this without a clinicians lab oversight), and nicotinic acid.

I can help you with specific diet suggestions if you come to my specialist portal with height, weight, labs, diagnosis, medications and a one day food diary. Good luck! Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
