What Does My My Lipid Profile Reports Indicate?

I HAVE NEVER HAD CHOLESTEROL ISSUES. ALWAY TOTAL 165 OR LESS. HDL 45, LDL 38, VLDL13, TRIGLYCERIDES 65. I HAD A NUCLEAR STRESS TEST DONE IN 2012 ALONG WITH A HEART CATH AND AN ECHOCARDIOGRAM. ALL SHOWING CLEAR. I GO FOR A CT SCAN OF THE HEART 3 WEEKS AGO TO PREPARE FOR AN ABLATION AND MY ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIST ASK ME ABOUT MY CHEST PAIN. I SAID I DONT HAVE ANY BUT THEN ASK SHOULD I. HE SAID MY LAD WAS 75% BLOCK. COULD THIS BE A FALSE POSITIVE FROM CT SCAN. I AM HAVING ANOTHER STRESS TEST SOON

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

It is important to know if you got CT coronary angiography done and it was seen in that you have 75 percent block of LAD (left anterior descending artery). Many people have no symptoms until 90 percent or more of the LAD is blocked.

It is less likely to be completely false but there might be over estimation on CT scan by 10 percent. Since echocardiography is normal therefore there is no serious concern and there is a possibility that medicines can control your condition. Doing stress test will tel possible weak areas in the heart muscle and if you need more attention concerning heart problems since you are also taking treatment for ablation. Please do not worry.
