What Does My Pap Smear Test Report Indicate?

Hi I got a pap smear test done and the result states The smear shows mainly superficial and intermediate squamous cells with moderate number of polymorphs. No Trichomonas or fungal organisms seen what does it mean. It also says for Endocervical cells : Present, Koilocytotic cells : Absent, Dysplastic cells: Absent and Malignant cells: Absent, could you explain this also??

Radiation Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

The findings mentioned in PAP smear report suggest that the cells obtained are normal, without any malignancy (malignant cells) or abnormality (koilocytes, dysplastic cells) or infection (trichomonas/fungus).

Kindly tell the reason for doing the PAP smear, if it was done as routine screening, continue PAP smear every 3 years, if you are between 21-29 years and every 5 years if you are above 30 years.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Jatin Bhatia, Radiation Oncologist
