pelvic scan reveals a bulky, non gravid, anteverted, uterus measuring 112mmx95mmx68mm in longitudinal, transeverse and AP diameters respectively. The uterine outline is irregular. The myometrium is non homogeneous in echo texture. In the myometrium there are multiple intramural fibroid measuring 61mmx54mm and 54mmx56mm located at the posterio fundal and anterio fundal uterine segment respectively. I am yet to get pregnant and i have been trying for about a year, i have also been feeling serious pain in my lower back and pelvic region. What is the best treatment to undertake and also be able to conceive.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The ultrasound of pelvis shows that the uterus is normal in size and shape. However, the uterus is enlarged due to presence of multiple fibroids in the uterine wall. Fibroids are benign tumours arising from muscle layer of uterus. When small in size, fibroids are asymptomatic but when large enough they can cause menstrual abnormalities, lower abdominal pain and menstrual irregularities. Fibroids usually do not interfere with conception but can affect fertility when they block the tubal openings. When symptomatic fibroids have to be removed surgically. I suggest you to consult your gynaecologist for clinical assessment and thus management.
