Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi..I have 200 plus hpf on my last urinalysis..then I was treated with macrodantin 100mg TID for 10 days..then 1 tab 0D thereafter until my g2g check up on 2nd wk of January. after 11th day I had urinalysis again and revealed a result of 10-12 hpf . Would it be alright for me to stop my antibiotic since I m 63 yo and a diabetic..I fear for my kidneys having so much antibiotics.
After reading your post I would suggest that you should get your urine tested for culture and sensitivity test. If the reports suggest that the bacteria is still present, you should take antibiotic according to the sensitivity report after discussing with your treating doctor.
I hope this is helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. R A Singh
