Hi dear,

Thanks for choosing HCM,

your semen analysis report shows low sperm motility of 20%, the normal range is >50%. Sperm motility means how well your sperm can move (for example how well can your spermmove towards the female egg for conception).

Low sperm motility can be caused by many underlying issues, such as obesity, hormonal problems, bad diet, smoking, alcoholism, stress and depression, malnutrition. There also might be underlying diseases that can cause low sperm motility.

However, you need to do the test again at least after one week to confirm it. We doctors always do it twice to make sure.

If you do the test again and it shows similar results, then you should follow the following suggestions

Eat more fruits, avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, have good rest, avoid anything that can cause you stress, drink a lot of water you can as well purchase over the counter multivitamins.

Also make sure you do further test with your Urologist to find out if there is underlying diseases or infection that might be causing low sperm motility, usually your doctor might run blood test, ultrasound on genital area such as testicles to look for a disease known as varicocele.

Low sperm motility can be a reason of infertility however in most cases the underlying cause can be treated and person can be fertile again and in other cases it’s not treatable. Your treatment will depend on the underlying cause.

Hope this helped

Wish you all the best.
