What Does Numbness In The Fingers And Feet Indicate?
My girlfriend has numbness in her fingers and feet, she doesn't have diabetes is active! She went to urgent care and he gave her a steroid shot, hasn't worked. She says old age, she is 70, is there some ideas I can tell her and maybe she will go to her dr!
1. At her age [70 years] other possible causes to look out are:
- any narrowing of the blood vessels in hands/feet. [because of physiological low blood pressure and circulation or because of disease condition like underactive thyroid, diabetes, raynauds disease, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, unstable/stable angina, mini stroke] - Vitamin B12 deficiency - irregular levels of calcium, potassium, or sodium.
2. It is best to see an Orthopedist [who works with hand and feet] who might order an MRI for any nerve compression or a Neurologist who can evaluate the functioning of your nerves [whether it is disease related or due to vitamin/electrolyte deficiency].
3. If the symptoms are disrupting her daily activities, make sure to contact your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, since treatment can be carried at home provided she has not been diagnosed with a serious medical condition.
