Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having problems sleeping on my left hip for the last week. Had been feeling twinges in this hip for several months. Pain seem high up on the top of the hip and down the backside. Now my left leg is starting to show nerve pain down my leg. At what point should I consider seeing my doctor about xrays or MRI?
Consult an orthopedic surgeon regarding hip discomfort or numbness since it could be because of hip osteoarthritis, AVN [avascular necrosis], DVT [deep vein thrombosis], PVD [peripheral vascular disorder], nerve irritation [sciatica] or simply because of cramps in calf [due to diabetes, calcium or salt deficiency]. The symptoms have to be carefully assessed by your doctor to ensure that whether it requires immediate medical attention or long-term therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Munish Sood
