Hello Doctor, my elder sister is 44 yrs old. She has two kids 21 & 16 yrs of age. I am unable to understand how should I explain her problem with you but whatever she has told me, I ll explain it to you. She often complains of pain in lower abdomen, body ache and feverish. She has gone for the USG and sometimes multiple cysts in her uterus are seen but sometimes disappear. Please guide us what should we do ?? Is it something serious??? I am giving my mail address..

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Cysts in the uterus are most commonly due to endometriotic cysts.
Endometriotic cysts are formed due to cystic degeneration of the endometriotic foci.
Endometriosis is a condition wherein the endometrial glands invade the myometrium.
The endometriotic foci undergo bleeding during menstrual phase and this is responsible for pain during menstruation.
However, this is one of the possibilities out of many other possibilities.
Further gynecological evaluation is required to know the exact nature of the cystic lesions.

The other symptoms- pain in lower abdomen, body aches and fever appear to be due to some other cause and not due to endometriotic cysts.
These symptoms suggest an infection.
Since there lower abdominal pain, there is possibility of pelvic inflammatory disease.
Consultation with a gynecologist will help to assess the problem.

Thanks and take care
