Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Firstly, I have breast cancer and have had surgery and am now taking 5 and a half weeks of radiation. But these symptoms started thursday night. My head was pounding so hard I couldn t see but only on the left side of my head. Then the pain ran down across my temple and it felt as though my upper and lower jaws were broken, they throbbed as hard as my head. Then every gland in my neck swelled and hurt so bad I wanted to cry out but my jaw hurt too much to open. The pain was still in every place I mentioned at the same time so it just kept getting worse. Then the pain moved down and across my collarbone and my heart started beating very fast but weak, thready. And it felt like something big and round rose up in my throat and it hurt and seemed to block my breathing somewhat so that I started choking and coughing uncontrollably. I went to bed but could not lie down and had to prop myself up to a sitting position to sleep. It has been 3 days and all of the symptoms have continued. At times it seems to ebb and at other times, especially if I have to move around much, it seems to intensify almost to the point of passing out. I will tell every doctor I see Monday but I am afraid it may be side effects that could worsen. y
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
This does sound like side effects from the radiotherapy. You should tell your oncologist about this so he can put you on pain medications which will give you palliative relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
