What Does Pain Behind The Rib Cage On The Right Side Indicate?

Hopefully. I have been getting a sharp stabbing pain that comes on with no warning on my right side behind the rib cage and stemming to the back about 2 inches below my shoulder blade. It has happened 3-4 times in the past 10 days and hurts more when I try to breathe. It does go away, but only after 3-4 minutes of agony. I ve recently had 2 surgeries. A gallbladder removal on 9/12/17 and a hysterectomy on 9/28/17. I thought maybe it was related, but now am beginning to doubt that.

Your symptoms may be suggestive of gallbladder stones so you should do at least ultrasound or CT scan to evaluate it more accurately. This is caused by stone in bile duct and is very common condition. Stones are see more commonly in obese people and those with diabetes. You need to change your dietary habits first. Need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food. If there is no improvement on lifestyle or dietary changes, then surgery is recommended. Other causes include pancreatitis or pleuordinia and should be considered if gallbaldder stones are ruled out.
