What Does Pain In Chest At The Middle Of Rib Cage Suggest?

Hello Dr, my name is Nathan and I m 22 years old. Over the last month or so I ve been having chest pains in lest side of my chest and in the centre of my rib cage, I went to see my gp and he said that it sounds like a virus, I then went again because the pain hadn t gone. I also got a paramedic out to my house and he took me to the hospital and they did and ECG and said my heart seemed healthy! But the pain hasn t gone and I went back to the GP to see a different doctor and she said that it sounds like my muscle is in spasm and is leaning on my nerves! I m rather scared what can I do? Hi,

The pain you have is definitely muscular strain or bony weakness / costochondral joint pain. Once it is confirmed not to be hart (that way also heart pain is different, its pressure with pain in the middle chest along with breathlessness and fatigue). You should try with Tab. NImic para over the counter for pain along with antacid pills if needed. Consult your doctor for prescription of calcium, vitamin D if he suspects bone weakness. Confirm joint involvement to certain type of pain followed by specific management.
