What Does Pain In The Arm Indicate?

After raising one arm above my head and lowering the forearm to the shoulder, I get a crunching noise. Some of my workouts such as curls and dips have been slightly painful so I have stopped doing them. What is this most likely to be and how do I treat it?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A possibility of musculoskeletal pain is most likely because your pain is associated with movements and specific positions.

So follow the below steps for better symptomatic relief in musculoskeletal pain:

1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid sudden jerky movements of the arm.
3. Apply warm water pad on affected areas of the arm.
4. Take simple painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs like Ibuprofen and thiocolchicoside.

You will mostly improve with all these treatments in 2 to 3 days. If not, then consult an orthopedic doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
