What Does Pain In The Chest Upon Breathing Indicate?

A few nights ago I raised my arms and stretched; opening up my chest cavity. Then I heard a pop. When I woke up the next morning I had a bump in the middle of my chest and it hurts every time I breath deep or sit up straight. What happened? What can I do to ease the pain and get rid of the bump?

Hello,

You are explaining as if there is a hernia in your chest. That pop could even mean a minor crack in the chest wall.

But, just with opening chest, it is very unlikely even though your history and symptoms do not match, you can get an x-ray chest done to rule out any rib fractures.

If you have bump or swelling, then kindly get it examined by the general surgeon if it is a hernia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
