What Does Pain In The Knees After A Heart Attack Indicate?

I suffered a heat attack (widow maker) and SCA February 2016. During the phase of rehab, I began suffering pain in both knees in the same area which I had not had before. Prior to my heart attack, I had been very active physically and have seen specialists for this knee pain as it has persisted for almost two years now. MRI, X-rays and blood tests show nothing that abnormal which would explain this aching, burning pain which never goes away. I also have skin rashes (quarter size and very itchy) on my arms, legs and torso. Also new since I began taking meds. Is it possible this pain is because of the two beta-blocker drugs I have been taking since my heart attack? (carvedilol 3.125 mg twice daily and lisinopril 2.5 mg once per day).Thank you Jim Pena

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain in knees after Heart Attack does not indicate any significant thing. There is no relationship between heart attack and knee pain. Beta blocker doesn't cause knee pain. Provide more information to get more specific answer . You should reduce your activity up to 10 %as you were before heart attack . Then slowly increase it by 10% every month. Go for aerobic exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
