What Does Pain In The Left Arm Indicate?

My left arm hurts from my shoulder (front) down my arm to the elbow, worse if I try to put my arm out to the side or try to reach back with it, or if I let it hang down by my side. I think it is my tendons, what do you think. I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder many years ago. I cannot lay on my left side at all because in just a few minutes it starts hurting too much. Are there exercises I can do at home for this, my insurance will not pay for therapy and I am on social security so cannot afford to go.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of frozen shoulder, the condition in which shoulder joint capsule inflammation causes movement resistance as well as pain.

Two things you have to do:

First, get your fasting and post prandial blood sugar checked. Diabetes is commonly associated with it.

Second, consult physiotherapist. The condition is treated by physiotherapy only. If pain is severe then only take tablet diclofenac.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
