What Does Pain In The Left Knee Indicate?

Hi, 60 year old married young lady. Obese. Like 230 lbs. and 5 2. Pain behind me left knee . On the left side. Have not physically fell or injured myself. I do have new varicose veins near pain area. Right leg was bad leg and had surury 20 years ago. Left leg has never been an issue. Anyhow, my son bought my husband ,who had an elbow problem a small electric Shock message paddle machine. Should I use that on the side of my leg or should I go see my doctor soon? Pain Comes and go everyday for 2 weeks now. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and according to me you are showing signs of osteoarthritis. As you have mentioned that you are overweight , it is aggravating your condition. I would advise you to consult an orthopaedic and get an X Ray knee to confirm the diagnosis. For now you can take an over the counter painkiller like aceclofenac to relieve the pain. I wouldn't advise massage till you consult a n orthopaedic. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
