What Does Pain In The Left Leg Indicate?

I am a 56 yr old male with pain in the left leg that is most noticeable at the bottom of my left glute/ top of leg bicep and behind my left knee. The pain is generally dull but constant and affects my gait by the middle to the end of the day. It is sometimes quite sharp especially if I try to cross my left leg to my right knee while seated or when I get up after being seated for a while. I have had no recent fall or twisting injury although I had a bad ankle sprain to,the left ankle last year that took long to resolve and included PT.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for asking. I understand your concern.
Your symptoms suggest sciatic nerve pressure due to pyriformis syndrome (signified by excessive pain while crossing leg).

You need physiotherapy/medicines to control pain
NSAID drugs or steroids .

Please consult an orthopedic surgeon for more specific advise.
