What Does Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side Indicate?

My 26 year old son has been experiencing pain in his lower left abdominal area. He s on day number 2 of pain, and he said it is only relieved when he goes to the bathroom, both urination and bowel movements. No fever. What might this be, and how long should he let it continue before seeing a doctor?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Your son has left lower abdominal pain which is relieved by defecation.
So possibility of intestinal infection is more likely.
Fever is not always present in such infections.
So tell him to drink oral rehydration solution and zinc tablet. Start probiotic drug thrice daily.
Avoid junk food. Avoid hot and spicy food.
He will mostly improve with all these in 2-3 days.
If he develops fever, worsening abdominal pain or pain diarrhoea then consult doctor.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
