I am a 65 year old woman. Can I have AS? My lower back and hips are so painful and have been for years. I can t stay bent over for just a few seconds nor stand for any length of time and sleeping is difficult because there isn t a position that makes me comfortable.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) us disease of males with age group under 40 years.
So no need to worry for AS for your symptoms.
In my opinion, you are mostly having nerve compression due to lumber spine pathology.
So get done x ray and MRI of lumber spine.
Yoi will need physiotherapy, bed rest, painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs.
Weight reduction is also important if you are obese.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
