What Does Pain In The Neck And Shoulders Indicate?
I have pain in the neck, upper shoulders area - and it s been present for going on three weeks. I don t recall any injury/trauma that may have occured, and I exercise regularly (until this pain came about) so I m familiar with muscle soreness from stressing muscles. I ve noticed my neck tends to pop a good bit when I try to loosen my neck up, as holding my head in one position seems to make it lock up . I ve been to urgent care for this last week, and they didn t do much but dismiss it as a strain and throw some pain pills at me. Any ideas?
Hello, Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern
The pain you are describing is likely due to cervical spondylosis, which occurs due to age/injury related wear and tear of cervical spine. Xray of neck is needed as an initial evaluation. Please be advised to follow up with your primary care to get the Xray done. Meanwhile, apply ice on area of pain. Take rest. Sleep on comfortable mattress and pillow. Take Advil 600 mg 4 times daily for pain.
