What Does Pain In The Rib Cage And Upper Abdomen Indicate?

Within the last two weeks or so I have developed pain in my rib cage and upper abdomen. I also feel it in my chest, back (spinal cord included), and lower neck. I am a 36 yr/old smoker. I smoke an average of almost a pack a day. I cough in the morning time and cough up a good amount of mucus. The cough goes away once I get going but I do couch mucus up throughout the day and evening. The pain in my upper back and lower neck have seemed to get progressively worse as time goes on. I am going to the ER after work today so that I can get checked out. I m very concerned and worried as to what it may be. What are your thoughts?

Well... if the ultrasound didn't show anythin in the kidney or reproductive organs maybe the proteins in the urine comes for an infection or something else worse like autoinmune diseases or many other diseases that can cause proteinury but to disting the cause for it will be necesary a biopsy from her kidney and perform the tomography
I suggest: intake the antibiotic prescription of your physician to discard and prevent an urinary tract infection
