What Does Pain In The Rib Cage Indicate?

I am having pains inside my skin, it seems like the rib cage, mostly on the right side, when I turn, sometimes when I move and also at times when I breathe. Thiis started last night and has continued all day. Sometimes it is relaxed and then comes right back. I thought maybe it was pleurisy, but I don t know.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms may be suggestive of gallbladder stones so you should do at least ultrasound or CT scan to evaluate it more accurately. This is caused by stone in bile duct and is very common condition. Stones are see more commonly in obese people and those with diabetes. You need to change your dietary habits first. Need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food. If there is no improvement on lifestyle or dietary changes, then surgery is recommended. Other causes include pancreatitis or pleuordinia and should be considered if gallbaldder stones are ruled out.
