What Does Pain In The Right Hand Indicate?

Hi, I ve had pain off and on in my right hand in the bottom right side of the palm for years (currently as I ask this question is bothering me). It s painful to touch, tap or pick things up sometimes when the symptom occurs. You can even see swelling on the inside of my hand on the bottom right side, under the thumb. Could this be arthritis? It s been off and on for years. I was told it was tennis elbow, but the more I look into it, it doesn t match my symptoms. Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms suggestive of arthritis of thumb joint or palmar fascitis. In tennis elbow, pain usually radiates up to forearm and elbow. You can be prescribed non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs for pain and inflammation relief. Chymoral Forte tablet is useful in reducing swelling. X-ray of the local part is advisable for further work up. Consult Orthopedic surgeon for examination.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
