What Does Pain In The Right Upper Hand Indicate?

Upper right arm , above muscle, pain (mild). Can only lift above shoulder when elbow is bent and hand is on chest with elbow straight out from shoulder. Wrist to shoulder has a dull ache. Pain can go into side of neck when arm is moved other ways. Don t recall having done anything to aggravate it. This is third day, but worse today because whole arm is mildly achy. Pain is mainly on outer arm just below shoulder. Thanks for any input to this quandary.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain in the right upper limb may be due to subacromial bursitis or deltoid muscle spasm or deltoid tendinitis or rotator cuff injury etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use arm support brace ,use tablet Indomethacin or Naprosyn twice a day for five days. Use cold and warm compression. If symptoms not improved please consult your orthopedics he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
