What Does Pain In The Right Wrist Indicate?

I have wrist pain in my right wrist. It is on the right side of the palm area. It is at the carpel area at the thumb extended. I cannot wash may hair, because any pressure really hurts. There is no numbness--only sever pain when the hand is extended wide.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Suggestive of 'carpal tunnel syndrome.'

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by a compressed median nerve in the carpal tunnel, a narrow passage on the palm side of your wrist causing weakness of the thumb's pinching muscles, and sometimes tingling and numbness sensation.

I advise you to consult your doctor for proper clinical examination and certain lab tests such as x-rays of the wrist, EMG, and nerve conduction study.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
