What Does Pain In The Thumb On Bending Indicate?

i hurt my thumb last week and it hurts by the mcp joint , it hurts when i bend it toward my pinky, or up like giving a thumbs or of just when i put a little amount of pressure on it like the amount when you get flicked does this sound sprained? or broken?
