What Does Pain On The Left Side Of The Neck And Shoulder Indicate?

I have neck and shoulder pain that started about a week ago. It is in my left side and is worse when I am sitting at my computer at work. I have tried several different sitting positions, pain medicine is not helping, not even to dull the pain. The pain is getting worse every day. Should I see my primary physician or wait another week or so to see if it goes away? Thank you for your time.
