What Does Pain On The Left Side Of The Ribcage Indicate?

I am a 55 y.o female, have many health problems such as obesity, degenerative disc disease, hbp, depression, the list can go on. But, there is a new symptom, and I don t know what to do about it. I have a dull pain constantly on my left side by my rib cage. At times, it stabs, and causes sharp pain, and catches my breath. Do you have any advice, or idea what it is?
