What Does Pain Under The Ribcage On The Right Side Indicate?

Hello, I have pain in my left side right under the rib cage. Usually after I eat but not always. Also, I don t know if it goes together but I have pain in my left shoulder blade. It sometimes has some swelling. I haven t hurt it and it doesn t hurt when I lift or anything. Don t think anything is torn a pulled. The pain does go up into my neck area also. I have been getting massages to help with the pain. It helps but just seems to be getting worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I appreciate your concern. Its likely to be related to GERD but a baseline EKG should be done. The chest should be examined/ auscultated to look for bilaterally equal air entry with normal vesicular breathing. If not , then an x ray chest should also be advised.

Wishing you best of health
Thanks
